WWE News and Rumors 6/15-6/23

I’ve decided to just touch on some news and notes floating around the wrestling world this past week. There’s been some notable news, a few injuries to report, and some pretty good rumors that have been in circulation recently regarding the upcoming Battleground pay-per-view. So let’s get to it…

Tyson Kidd Injured

Former WWE Tag Team Champion, Tyson Kidd was already rumored to be working through a groin injury recently. As bad as groin injuries can be, that isn’t what everyone is concerned with. In a recent match at a live event against Samoa Joe, Kidd seriously injured his neck after taking a Muscle Buster from his opponent. Kidd has currently been seen in a neck brace, and apparently will need a fusion surgery that could sideline him for more than a year; it could jeopardize his in ring career. Fingers crossed that the very talented Tyson Kidd has a great recovery.

Erick Rowan Injured

Legendary ECW commentator Joey Styles recently tweeted that Erick Rowan was injured during a house show this past weekend and is being sidelined for further medical evaluation. Hopefully, the injury isn’t severe and Rowan can return quickly. His reuniting with Luke Harper has been good for both of their careers and for the current WWE tag team division.

Brock Lesnar turning face?

Brock Lesnar’s return to the WWE is only a week old. But it made an impact as always…with Lesnar set to face off with Seth Rollins at Battleground for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, a problem arises…Just who is the baby face here? Both Brock Lesnar and current WWE Champion Seth Rollins are heels. With Rollins being such a big heel for the company during Brock’s time off, it seems like WWE has no choice but to turn Brock Lesnar face for this feud. A face turn for Lesnar could also lead to an eventual split from manager Paul Heyman. If Heyman manages to turn on Lesnar in favor of Rollins and cost Lesnar his chance at regaining his title, we could have a FANTASTIC storyline building beyond Battleground and into SummerSlam.

Dolph Ziggler Leaving WWE?

Remember the super talented “Shaman of Sexy,” John Morrison, who is now wrestling in Lucha Underground as Johnny Mundo after leaving WWE? Well folks, bad news for some and good news for others: the same could be happening again with fan-favorite Dolph Ziggler. Mundo left the WWE due to “creative differences” regarding the push his character was receiving (well, lack of a push to be honest). Ziggler has now reportedly fallen into the same boat. With Ziggler’s contract up in a few months, the rumors are swirling about his departure from the WWE. Former WWE creative writer, Court Bauer, commented on the rumor stating, “Dolph’s deal is up in a few months, and he has indicated informally that unless he gets a big push, he may leave like Mundo.” Hopefully this rumor is just a rumor for the fan’s sake, but honestly? WWE can fill that space with an NXT up and comer and not miss a beat.

WWE Tough Enough Returns

One of the worst reality shows in the history of television returns to continue to make a mockery of the business that I love so much. That show is WWE Tough Enough. The show itself is basically a WWE boot camp of Youtube entries trying to see if anyone has what it takes to win a WWE roster spot. The show does not produce legitimate WWE talent, it has been canceled twice previously in the past…But apparently this time is “different”…I personally have no need, business, or desire to ever watch the show again. But if you’re interested, below is the schedule for the show’s premiere.

– The Tough Enough premiere will be at 8pm EST on Tuesday night and will be titled “Boot Camp or Bust.” Tough Enough episodes will also replay on E! and Esquire. Who will win the one year WWE contract worth $250,000? Tune in to find out.

It was a pretty busy week in the wrestling world, and that’s always a good thing. Make sure you keep reading because this week is supposed to get even more hectic

Sean Feral
Sean is pretty much “the bad guy”(metaphorically not negatively)…Sean was dubbed a “natural heel” by a handful of pro wrestlers about 8 years ago and Sean has embraced that role ever since. While covering the sports entertainment industry, Sean has met and interviewed many in the business and still loves the business now as much as he did as a kid. While most kids were cheering for the XMen, Sean rooted for guys like Apocalypse and Magneto. When everyone rooted for Hulk Hogan, Sean was rooting for the Iron Sheik. When you ask him “Why do you like the villain so much?” Sean always gives this answer, “The villain always tells a better story. Without their substance, there is little need for heroes.” Other than his love for villains, Sean is an overall sports dork and watches literally everything from WWE to Olympic curling to the NFL. Sean also loves humor, especially when it’s dark, well thought out, and witty.
