WWE RAW Results 7-27-15

WWE RAW kicks off from Oklahoma City with the Authority(Triple H, Stephanie, & Rollins) They announce Owens vs Orton and Big Show vs Ambrose for later and also say SummerSlam will be a massive four hour pay-per-view this year. John Cena interrupts and tries to goad Rollins into a World title match. Stephanie says “No” and Triple H says they will have a match but for the U.S. title not the World title.

Big Show defeated Dean Ambrose via count out

Big Show worked Ambrose over for pretty much the entire match. Ambrose refused to be counted out and kept getting up until he went for a suicide dive that ended up connecting with a Knockout Punch keeping Ambrose down for the count out. After the match Big Show tried to spear Ambrose through the barricade but misses and goes through the barricade alone.

Adrian Neville defeated Fandango via Red Arrow

Fandango put up a minimal effort before eating the Red Arrow.

After the match, Stardust appeared on the Tron to cut a promo on Neville likely setting up his feud with Stephen Amell.

Sasha Banks defeated Paige via Bank Statement

Paige and Sasha had a pretty fantastic match…Lots of actual chain wrestling and very good back and forth technical wrestling. Paige hit a dive to the outside to take out Team B.A.D. but Sasha regains momentum and hits her double knee in the corner for a near fall. More back and forth action with a couple of near falls until Paige hits a modified STF but Sasha gets the break. Sasha hits the Bank Statement for the win.

– Rollins is backstage with Renee to cut a promo on Cena. Don’t forget the hash tag #CenaNough

Rusev is out with Summer to cut a promo insulting Dolph and Lana. Rusev presents Summer with a puppy named “Dog Ziggler” and then gives her a headless fish and calls it Lana…Lana then interrupts and attacks Summer, rubbing her face into the fish. Lana then slaps Rusev and storms off. A furious Rusev throws the fish at Lana to end the segment.

– They flashback to Undertaker and Lesnar from last week

Lucha Dragons defeated Los Matadores via pinfall

Sin Cara starts things off with Diego and they trade counters in traditional Lucha fashion. Titus and Darren are on commentary and are absolutely hilarious. This is your pretty standard tag match…not boring but not great, definitely used as filler time. New Day interrupts and mocks Titus O’Neil for “mega dad of the year”. Kalisto scores the pinfall.

– Bray Wyatt is out with Luke Harper and they cut a promo on the importance of family.

Charlotte and Becky Lynch defeated Alicia Fox and Nikki Bella

Nikki and Becky start things off and have some nice chain moments before Charlotte is tagged in and hits Charlotte’s Web for a near fall. After some more back and forth Charlotte hits a spear on Nikki and they fall outside…Becky then locks on the DisARMer for the win.

Randy Orton defeated Kevin Owens via Disqualification

Physical and brutal match….this match actually made me want to see a feud between these two main eventers. Orton, to me, has just always been what we want Cena to be. This match was pay-per-view quality until Sheamus interfered and floored Orton. Cesaro then hits the ring and all hell breaks loose as he attacks Sheamus and Owens. Sheamus distracts Cesaro long enough that he runs into a pop up powerbomb. The heels acknowledge each other and Sheamus poses with the briefcase before leaving.

John Cena defeated Seth Rollins to retain the U.S. Championship via STF

The crowd is torn as usual….”Let’s go Cena!”….”Cena Sucks!” Chants fill the arena. The two lock up and go back and forth for a bit until Rollins gains control and we go to break. Back from break and Cena gains the upper hand and hits his typical Cena moves. He goes for a 5 Knuckle Shuffle but he’s countered but then hits a tornado DDT for a near fall. Rollins recovers and throws Cena to the outside and hits a suicide dive. Cena is rolled back into the ring and is hit with a flying knee from the top rope by Rollins. Rollins has a Pedigree reversed into a near STF but escapes…Cena counters that into an electric chair drop for a near fall. The two go back and forth and Rollins gains control back. Cena is bleeding out of his nose after eating a knee and the doctor comes into check on Cena and clean up the blood. Cena recovers and hits a slingshot stunner for a near fall, Cena misses the AA and Rollins gets a near fall. Cena hits the AA but Rollins kicks out. Rollins then hits a super suplex and hangs on to roll through into a falcon arrow for a near fall. Cena’s nose is clearly broken. Rollins misses the Phoenix Splash and is caught in the STF and taps.

Sean Feral
Sean is pretty much “the bad guy”(metaphorically not negatively)…Sean was dubbed a “natural heel” by a handful of pro wrestlers about 8 years ago and Sean has embraced that role ever since. While covering the sports entertainment industry, Sean has met and interviewed many in the business and still loves the business now as much as he did as a kid. While most kids were cheering for the XMen, Sean rooted for guys like Apocalypse and Magneto. When everyone rooted for Hulk Hogan, Sean was rooting for the Iron Sheik. When you ask him “Why do you like the villain so much?” Sean always gives this answer, “The villain always tells a better story. Without their substance, there is little need for heroes.” Other than his love for villains, Sean is an overall sports dork and watches literally everything from WWE to Olympic curling to the NFL. Sean also loves humor, especially when it’s dark, well thought out, and witty.
